More Mask Practice….

I found a file that I thought was  lost…  I was so happy!  Anyhow, I thought I would use this file to practice my masking technique for dropping in backgrounds that I have created….  It is however a very rough practice piece.  I did not get very precise with my pen tool for lack of time.   I shot the background with chrome and cross processed it and manipulated the image in photoshop…  If I recall, it was one of the very first images I worked with in photoshop.   The girl is a friend I recently met and she was nice enough to model for me.  This is one of the out take photos from the shoot.I know I still need A LOT more practice,  but it’s pretty cool I think!

Snow Princess

I took this shot of my daughter just before I froze my fingers off building a snowman without gloves!  Yea,  I’ll freeze my butt off  to see her happy!   I used a cannon 30D  w/ a  24-70 lens and natural light only.

Winter Daze

This image was my first real attempt at creating a background and dropping it in on a masked image.  I wanted to practice masking over hair.  It was difficult to say the least!  It’s not perfect by any means, but I am pleased with the results for a first attempt.  The background is actually raindrops on my windshield.  I used a cannon 30D and experimented with long exposures.  Also, I used a 24-70mm lens and available light only.  For the girl, I used a 5D with a 24-70mm lens and 580 off-camera flash with a soft box attachment.  I am looking forward to more experiments like this!

This one was a tuffie…   It’s still not quite where I want it, but it’s close for now….  shot w/ a 30D and a 300mm lens.  I forgot to take a snapshot of the lighting scenerio…  I used side light with a speedo strobe shot through milky plexi-glass and played a few black and white cards here and there for the reflections.

I took this shot(s) for my panoramic assignment in my digital class..  It consists of 12 separate images merged together…  I used a cannon 30D  at ISO 100, with a 24-70mm lens.  My exposures varied slightly…  They ranged from 5-10 seconds at f/ 32.

More Speed Please!

I took this shot with a cannon 20D at 1/60 sec at f/10, ISO 400, and I used a 24-70mm lens.  With on-camera flash, I used the rear curtain/ 2nd curtan sync, or the “flash and drag” method to freeze the rider and blur the background.

Sorry ya’ll, but my commercial projects are still in progress at the moment!   So here’s a little abstract stuff I’ve been playing with…  hope you like it!  The top photo was taken at night at Belews Creek with a cannon 20D/ 24-70mm lens stopped down, and a few post process photoshop filters applied…  The bottom image was taken with a cannon 30D and a lens baby…

This is what my weekend consisted of!

I took an image that I had been playing with and just kept playing!  Pieced together from 4 seperate images, I used pen tool techniques, blending modes, and lens flare/blur filters to get this image where it is.
